Synopsis:
This film is a sober, revelatory account of Algerian freedom fighter Ahmed Zabana, a thoughtful and pensive revolutionary whose execution in 1956 by French colonial authorities was intended to serve as an example for a colonized people simmering with agitation resulting from over a century of French occupation. Instead Zabana’s execution triggered a liberation war that would eventuate in Algerian independence—the Battle of Algiers.
